How it went, from start to adjustment.
During the race, I needed to talk to myself. The distance was long, there was a lot of emotion, and thinking about everything at once made the journey feel even bigger.
I returned to a smaller part: the stretch I was on, the next kilometre, what I could notice in that moment.
The words I said to myself were part of how I moved through the experience. So was other people’s support. I remember that inner conversation as an important part of my story.
But there was pain, too. Today, I want to tell this without confusing encouragement with ignoring a signal from my body. A sentence can accompany an experience; it doesn’t erase an injury or replace care.
I want my conversation with myself to leave room for effort and limits. For continuing when it makes sense and reconsidering when needed.
Thinking about one part at a time helps me look at the journey. I want to carry that attention with me without turning it into pressure to go beyond what I can do.
